“Kasi nga, sinabi ko na ang ginagawa nila is political scapegoating. Ibig sabihin, ayaw nila tanggapin iyong obligasyon, ayaw nila ibigay ang accountability sa mga problema tulad ng pagbaha,” Sara said during a chance interview with advocates outside The Hague’s detention facility in the Netherlands last Tuesday, July 22.
She highlighted the importance of securing a prevention plan and finding the root of the flooding, rather than blaming the past administration.
She states that “Ganon dapat ang sagot ng gobyerno. Hindi yung magtuturo sila ng ibang tao. Kasi nililihis nila iyong attention ng tao sa totoong problema.”
“Ipunin po nating lahat tapos i-deliver natin sa Malacañang para may mainom siya, para meron silang mainom doon. Ganoon na po ang gagawin natin,” she added.
Sara said as a response to President Marcos’ order to gather floodwater and repurpose it for agricultural use that she recommends that the collected floodwater should be sent straight to Malacañang instead.
The combined turbulent rains of Typhoon Crising and the strengthened southwest monsoon caused flooding in the majority of Metro Manila and other provinces, affecting one million-plus Filipinos via extensive damage to private and public properties and six confirmed fatalities.
