“More than disappointed, I’m getting very angry.”
There was not a single concrete built on the completed P55.7M-funded concrete river wall project in Baliwag, Bulacan, after President Bongbong Marcos Jr. inspected the site on Wednesday.
The project in Purok 4, Brgy. Piel, came to light after concerned citizens in the area reported in the “Sumbong sa Pangulo” website that the flood control project in Baliwag, Bulacan had not been built, despite it supposedly being completed by ‘the public works.’
“There’s nothing there, not even a single hollow block or cement. There were no equipment. Everything there is a ghost project. There is clearly no work that has been done,” Mr. Marcos said after inspecting a river wall project at Purok 4, Barangay Piel, in Baliwag.
He will see to it if the concerned government officials and private contractors will be held liable of nonbailable crimes for ‘sabotaging the economy.’
Meanwhile, Marcos have said that officials who contrived and authorized the said ‘ghost’ project would be suspended and charged with graft, falsification of public documents, and malversation of public funds.
“This project, for instance, has been reported as completed. But we can clearly see that it is not. So immediately, that’s falsification. That’s already a very big violation,” he said.
“And for the big ones, I am thinking very hard if we can file economic sabotage against the personalities behind them,” he added.
This is the second time this month that the President had witnessed the hectic flood control projects in Bulacan, with last week in Calumpit, Bulacan, he saw a river dike damaged and practically rendered unusable after alleged ‘rehabilitation’ of P96.4M.
