Filipino fast-food restaurant Jollibee has collaborated with the Department of Education (DepEd) to jointly create a quick service restaurant (QSR) curriculum for senior high school (SHS) students.
According to Education Secretary Sonny Angara, this public-private partnership will “bring industry-relevant learning into the classroom.”
The partnership also includes a commitment to build 50 classrooms by 2028.
"The commitment to build 50 new classrooms by 2028 also shows how this partnership invests in both knowledge and space, ensuring that more Filipino students are equipped for the future of work,” he added.
Jollibee Group Philippines CEO Joseph Tanbuntiong stated that the collaboration aims to address educational issues and bridge the gap between education and employment opportunities.
“I have always believed that education opens doors—lifting up individuals, families, and entire communities. But in many parts of the country, teachers and students continue to face challenges that can make learning more difficult," he added.
According to the agreement, the Jollibee Group and the DepEd will collaboratively create a customized QSR curriculum designed for students in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track.
The initiative will combine classroom learning with hands-on training within Jollibee Group brands, emphasizing areas such as restaurant operations, food handling, customer support, safety and hygiene, and business communication.
“Our vision is to help create learning spaces where every child, teacher, and community member can experience the joy and power of education. By investing in both programs and physical infrastructure, we contribute to a more empowered and resilient generation of learners,” Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) President Gisela Tiongson said.
The project is a key part of the Jollibee Group’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2028 and JGF’s 20th anniversary this year.
