“Hindi na 'yun kasalanan nung gobyerno.”
Amid the flooding crisis happening in the Philippines, former Senator Cynthia Villar stated that garbage is the reason why it is flooding in Las Piñas.
“Eh kami wala kaming problema sa baha. If ever merong nag-o-overflow lang—nagmamalfunction yung kanilang mga drainage system. Eh kasalanan ng mga tao yun, kasi nilalagyan nila ng basura yung drainage system nila,” she said.
This is after a statement made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., citing that the flood control projects of the administration were built effectively in the city.
This was pointed out by Marcos in his 4th State of the Nation Address, just a week ago.
Meanwhile, Villar said that she continuously provides funding of the flood control projects in the area, that includes the fixation of rivers in the city.
This is why that specific area of the city is not mostly affected by heavy flooding.
It is noted that the President has spoken out against the alleged corruption in flood control projects, resulting in the loss of prevention of flooding in the country.
