After three years of being removed from the platform, the iconic 'oof' is finally back from Roblox.
The announcement was made public on July 19 in Roblox's various social media accounts.
"A comeback so good it hurts," Roblox wrote on X as a video of a default character dying plays.
A link to the raw audio file was also made available on the Roblox Creator Hub for the developers to use.
'Oof' was launched as a the platform's death sound from 2004 until 2022 in which it was taken down due to licensing issues.
"Due to a licensing issue, we have removed the 'oof' sound from Roblox and have created a replacement default sound which launches today," Roblox Corporation explained.
The said dispute began in 2020 when sound designer Tommy Tallarico recognized the sound as the one he made for 2000 game Messiah.
Both parties initially reached a compensation agreement, however it was eventually pulled out of the platform.
