A total power interruption is expected to implement within Sulu from July 26-27, the Sulu Electric Cooperative (SULECO) announced.
The Plant Head of the National Power Corporation-Jolo, Engr. Jasen BJE Abdurahman said that the total brownout will intend to work on substation and tie-line upgrade.
“[T]hat all required materials for the conduct of our Substation and Tie-Line Upgrade are now complete. In line with this, we are seeking [your] approval to implement a total power shutdown on July 26 and July 27, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, to safely carry out the said upgrade activities,” he said in a letter addressed to the SULECO General Manager, Peraida Jalani on July 15.
This will enable to undertake these upgrading activities to address issues on hot spots, loose connection points, and overloading of conductors, causing unscheduled total power shutdown.
Furthermore, the NPC-Jolo requested SULECO for the tapping of the tie-line from NPC-Jolo to the substation of SULECO, and the CT-PT equipment during the conduct of operation.
The two agencies ensure their coordination for smoothness and safety of the operations towards improved system.
