Three individuals have been reported dead due to separate weather-related incidents in Calabarzon, according to local authorities; two victims drowned, while another died due to electrocution.
In Lucena City, a woman identified only by her alias, Lyka, drowned after swimming with friends despite public warnings and strong river currents.
The Calabarzon police reported that Lyka’s body was found around 4:00 p.m. by Philippine Coast Guard rescuers, entangled in water lilies in a different section of the river.
Authorities ruled out foul play and classified the case as a drowning incident.
In Tanay, Rizal, police reported that a fisherman discovered the body of an unidentified boy floating in the lake of Barangay San Isidro at around 10:40 a.m., estimated to be between 7-12 years old, is believed to have drowned.
Authorities are investigating whether he is the same boy reported missing in a previous drowning incident in Morong town.
A post-mortem examination and autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, in San Mateo, Rizal, a 20-year-old man identified as Ralph died of electrocution while repairing a galvanized iron sheet on the roof of their home in Barangay Sta. Ana around 9:00 a.m.
Ralph reportedly came into contact with a live wire connected to a nearby electric post. He was rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In Nasugbu, Batangas, authorities are searching for a 35-year-old man identified as Romel, who went missing while fishing with his brother-in-law in a river in Barangay Reparo at approximately 3:45 p.m.
According to reports, Romel attempted to cross the river but was swept away by the strong current. His companion tried to rescue him but was unsuccessful.
As of writing, other individuals remain missing in the provinces of Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas due to various weather-related incidents.
