Better the bitter truth

I stand no higher than a simple man,

Yet quietly I’ll cheer you when I can.

You test my heart as far as you are able,

I bleed and falter, fragaile at your table.

From distant shadows, woman’s silent plea.

Could you select this humble soul like me?

When others gleam in brilliance more than mine,

Would you still seek to let your daylight shine?

Would your affection spring from gentle grace?

Or pity’s soft concern upon my face?

You’ve seen no cruelty in how I yearn,

And still I give you all I have to learn.

Would you love me out of pity?

When you knew I don't show you my curelty?

For you knew it yourself

That I'd choose you and give you my best.

Would you love me even if there's judgement?

When everyone gazes with torment?

For I myself knew it

That I'd rather suffer than lie to myself.

I know your tired fooling your mind

So if you knew your just love blind

Tell me

I'd rather bear a painful truth than dwell in gentle lies.
