A buy-bust operation in Cebu City on September 3, 2025, led to the arrest of a barangay captain’s son, with authorities seizing around 250 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱1.7 million.
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) conducted the sting on Benedicto Street, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, around 2:30 p.m., after a week-long surveillance on the suspect, who was allegedly capable of distributing up to a kilogram of shabu weekly.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Jun,” was previously linked to a 2022 drug case but evaded capture during an earlier operation. This time, agents recovered five packs of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and other evidence.
According to PDEA-7, the confiscated drugs have been sent to the agency’s regional laboratory for chemical testing, and the suspect is detained at the PDEA-7 holding facility, while formal charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 are being readied.
Authorities have yet to disclose whether the barangay official parent of the suspect will be questioned in connection with the case.
