Red Bull Racing has officially released Christian Horner from his roles as team principal and CEO, effective immediately on July 9, Wednesday.
Horner, who had led the team since its founding in 2005, oversaw six Constructors’ Championships and multiple Drivers’ titles, including four with racer Max Verstappen.
Although it is currently unclear what caused his release, the former team boss experienced poor on-track performance in the 2025 season, with the squad currently 4th in the Constructors' Championship, and lingering controversy from a previous internal investigation.
In 2024, Horner was associated with a scandal during the season after being accused of misconduct with a team employee, but he remained in charge of the team.
Laurent Mekies, from sister team Racing Bulls, will replace Horner as Red Bull Racing's CEO.
